Nightmare on Elm Street is a horror movie Written by Eric Heisserer and Wesley Strick, directed by Samuel Bayer and produced by Michael Bay, Andrew Form and Brad Fuller. The film is a re-imagined version of the 1984 film of the same name, written and directed by Wes Craven, and aims to give continuity to the series. The film will open on 30 April 2010. Actor Jackie Earle Haley will replace the veteran Robert Englund, who has acted as Freddy Krueger in the 7 Potter films as well as the crossover Freddy Vs. Jason, while Rooney Mara will assume the role of Nancy Thompson.
Synopsis
A group of college students staying at the house on Elm Street Street. throughout the night everyone will die one by one until one of the boys, “Cody”, in his our dreams sees someone burned with a glove with blades called Freddy Krueger.
On 29 January 2008, Variety reported that Michael Bay and Platinum Dunes would make a remake of Wes Craven’s film, A Nightmare on Elm Street. The first rumors about the date indicated that the movie would premiere in 2009, but New Line Cinema reported that the release date would be in 2010. Time Warner said the release would be the 30th of April 2010.
The shootings began on 5 May 2009 and officially ended on 10 July 2009. Scenes have been shot in the institutes of Elk Grove High School and John Hersey High School and also a Methodist church in Indiana.
Website HSX, Which gives a prediction of the first 4 weeks of all the movies that are being released, says the remake will raise 70 million dollars, but as the date approaches the number usually goes a lot higher, to about 80 million in the first four weeks, which translates to about 110 million dollars collection in United States. In international sales 40 million are anticipated which would make the film gross $ 150 million worldwide and would be the franchise record after the 2003 film, Freddy Vs. Jason (140 million) and the 1988 film, Nightmare on Elm Street 4: Dream Master (50 million)
